Lightning '97
Take Soccer by the Bay Title
Sunnyvale Alliance was well
represented at the Soccer by the Bay Tournament this past weekend. SASC
Lightning 97 won their first tournament of the fall season, with a sensational
3-0 victory over the San Mateo Contenders U13 Boys final.
The Lightning
scored a combined 12 goals in four games, while only conceding a single score
during the tournament.
The boys opened pool play with a 4-0 win over
the San Carlos Fury White. They would turn up the heat in the second game, with
a comfortable 2-0 win over the SVSLV Thunder.
Day 2 would begin with
another victory, coming over the Half Moon Bay Jaws 3-1. The Championship game
saw Lightning take a 3-0 victory against the San Mateo Contenders to lift the
tournament championship trophy.
"The boys thoroughly deserved to win
this," said Lightning head coach Tim Newsome. "We did a lot of work in the team
camp and the fitness really showed. I'm very proud of the boys".
Lightning 97 hope to take this momentum into the new season. Well done
Lightning!
